First Snowy Commute of the Season

Fifty three degrees, when I left the house this morning.  That turned out to be the high temp for the day.  By 1:30 PM, it was raining, and the rain turned to snow about an hour before I left the lab.

I had a nice ride home, with big wet flakes falling but melting as soon as they hit the warm pavement.  I had forgotten, though, just what an adventure it is to ride a freewheeling bike with rim brakes in freezing precipitation.

There shouldn't be any snow on the roads, tomorrow morning, but the temperature is supposed to drop to 23 degrees, tonight. Might be a bit icy, in spots.  So, I pulled the winter commuter out and got it ready to ride.  Fixed gear and disc brakes...should be a little more controllable than the RockCombo was, this afternoon.

Crazy that you've had snow already! That said, parts of Indiana not too far north of here have already had snow once that I know of. I'm guessing it'll be a bit before we get any down in southern IN.

Stay warm out there!

We had our first snow here in western PA over the weekend - nothing sticking to the ground, but lots of big flakes coming down on us as we shopped for shoes (big kids, big feet, big shoes - we found two pair each they liked, sizes 12 and 13).

Well, we were about a month late for the first snow. It's not unusual to get snow in September, here (the only month in which Denver has never gotten snow is August).

We are supposed to get real snow, tomorrow, with accumulation in the 4-6 inch range. It's a holiday, so no commute, but I'll head to the coffee shop, of course.

Joy: Sounds like you went boat shopping rather than shoe shopping!
