Penitents

"I'm sorry,"

"so sorry."

Two dogs...one pound of steak left on the cutting board while I went outside for a few minutes...undeniable canine temptation.

That's pretty much the story, in a nutshell.

Sorry, but well fed...

It's like the Beggin'strips commercial, but instead of BACON,BACON,BACON!!! they said STEAK,STEAK,STEAK!!!.My last Cocker Spaniel once stole a hot Bratwurst "right off of our little charcoal grill!"It came up in the yard almost as fast as it went down.LOL! She never stole anything again, or even begged at the table for the rest of her life.Just so I am being clear the Bratwurst didn't kill her the Pet Food Recall did.We joined a class action lawsuit against the Co."WHO SHALL REMANE UNNAMED" and won!It doesn't replace the dog, nothing could do that but it didn't hurt either.I am not usually latigious, but pets are family to and that time was personal!!!!!!!

I hate to be critical, but I think you are mistaking the looks on your dog's faces. I distinctly recognize that look as being "the next time you turn your back I'm going for the cheeseball".

FB: That sucks about your dog.
what a nightmare. Much as they annoy me, sometimes, my dogs are family!

Big Oak: I think you may be right. They are probably as sorry as dogs get, meaning they will do it again the next time the opportunity presents itself!

People seem to forget that dogs were evolved from some of the top opportunistic predators on the planet, the Timberwolf being one of the biggies. It's take or be taken, eat or be eaten,it's still in all dogs however suppressed humans have tried to make it insticts will almost always overule training in even the most well behaved dogs.I am not saying that any dog could or would bite the hand that feeds it, but steak is steak.Who wouldn't grab one off of the counter if given half a chance?LOL I know I would,"Medium Rare"please with a little fresh ground black pepper.Just remember they weren't nessacarily being "Bad",they were just being "Dogs"

Thank you for your comment about "Jazzmine" Jon,It does suck and it was a nightmare, but hopefully the people responsible will learn that it is not always about making a buck and think of the pets and PEOPLE that have been injured or KILLED by Melamine in their food products. It's such a damn shame that a few that don't give a s#*t can cause so much pain and suffering for thoundsands of unaware innocents.

I'm sorry, I tend to ramble when I talk about pets.My dog Murphy and my birds Sunny and Skye are sort of like my kids,Who am I kidding, they are like my kids. Also there is Monty the fish and Clara Jean the desert tortise.Yes, I know it's a stupid name for a tortise,my cousin Cheyenne who is now 15 named it when she was 2, and who could forget Desi and Lucy the red tailed Boa Consticters.Wrap your head around that one,"or they will"LOL!

OK I am done.Really!

I put the two of them oustside, for a while, just to not give them the impression that I approved. But, I couldn't bring myself to be mad at them. I know canine behavior, and I knew better than to leave something that tempting on the counter (but someone knocked on the door, right as I set it out, and I walked away without thinking).

More my fault than theirs, for sure.

In the end, I got dinner (another steak) and they got one hell of a nice snack.

BTW, I can't think of a better name for a desert tortoise.
