That's nuts. Even though it's a good frame and mix of parts, you can buy a real classic or a full custom from a good builder for that kind of money. Dave Moulton's bikes go for way less than that ebay, albeit he didn't make mixtes.
I thought the $1000 Bianchi Pistas on E-Bay were a rip off,but a $3500mixte,come on!Maybe it was supposed to be $350, that would have been a little more acceptable.
If you look at his parts list, he probably has $800 or $900 invested in the bike. He has built that sort of bike that, if you plan on keeping it forever, is great. But, even at the break-even price, you aren't likely to sell it.
I suspect that he is hoping for offers. I find it hard to believe that he thinks anyone will pay custom-bike prices for a bike like this, no matter what the parts-spec.
By the way, Sunrace thumb shifter? I know Grant Petersen sells them through Rivendell, but they are still cheap POS shifters, and not something to list on the specs of a $3500 bike!
Anyway, like I told Doohickey, he only has to find one sucker in order to make the sale of a lifetime.
yes, beautiful bike, but i agree -- if i were going to shell out that much cash, i'd just get one custom made. hell, i have trouble spending $350 on a bike!
